Background

Health Service facilities in Nepal and even in the capital Kathmandu are yet far beyond the reach of poor and middle economic class people. There is a distinct gap and discrepancy that has created unmanageable load on to the Government-aided Hospitals and Health institutions in one hand and relatively vacant or under utilized services remaining in private hospitals on the other. This is truly due to low capacity to afford the cost of services of private sector. An obvious need to address such a situation compelled us to establish a well equipped and reliable hospital in Kathmandu. After continuous and serious exercise, we decided to establish a hospital by the name of Former Prime Minister late Manmohan Adhikari, a great patriot and renowned leader whose whole life was dedicated to uplift the people and the nation. This has brought great inspiration and enthusiasm in whole health sector. To launch health services with such a noble mission the co-operative concept was decided to be adopted. Nepal Health Care Co-operative Limited (NEHCO) was thus founded and registered on March 17, 2006 after fulfilling all required criteria.

Manmohan Memorial Community Hospital has been established under NEHCO with above 400 founder share holders now reaching to eleven hundreds from various walks of life. Among them are about eighty committed doctors and fifty other health professionals. This hospital has been established in the period when great historical people's movement II was launched in Nepal. We feel proud to mention that emergency services specially for free treatment of victims to the People's movement was launched from 14th April 2006 and commencement of other services such as General OPD, Lab (Pathology), Radiology and Pharmacy services started on May 15th 2006 while all other services commenced 29th June 2006, the auspicious day of birth anniversary of Late Manmohan Adhikari.

Goal & Objectives

Goal:
To provide quality curative, preventive and promotive health services aiming specially at under privileged and deprived, with a mission of hospital for all.

Objectives:

1. To provide 24 hours general, speciality and emergency curative health services at affordable cost.
2. To provide preventive and promotive health services at hospital premises and in the community.
3. To promote for establishing and lunching community health clinics/hospitals in the valley and adjacent districts.
4. To ensure understanding, co-ordination and mutual co-operation with national and international health institutions in relation to medical and academic knowledge, skill and training.
5. To launch package Health services and Health Insurances Schemes for individuals, professional communities, schools, colleges, organizations and target groups.
6. To launch health related academic and training programs.
7. To launch health related study and research programs.
8. To launch health related community programs and projects e.g.: child and maternal health programs, HIV AIDS Prevention and free health camps etc.
